Project: Painting the upstairs loft/hallway

My in-laws came over a week ago and we had a little painting party. We are becoming pros. :-) The color I picked out is called GOLD BUFF. It is a little brighter then what I wanted, but it looks better then being all white. We got started right away and was able to finish in about 3 hours. After cleaning up, we put a Pork Tenderloin on the grill and had an enjoyable dinner together.

Carving Pumpkin

We finally found some time to crave the pumpkin. It was a chilly night. This was the biggest pumpkin we had to crave. It was very hard on our hands because the pumpkin was so thick. We did the best we can. Let me know what you think?

Project: Headboard

My Mother-in-law came over yesterday and we upholstered an old headboard she gave us. I met her at Joann's fabrics and from there we came to my house and got started. It took us about 3.5 hours to complete the project. First we had to lay down the batting and stapled it to the head board. Then I threw the fabric into the dryer to try to get rid of some of the wrinkles, and then we stapled the fabric to the head board making sure it’s a tight fight. You don’t want any wrinkles. Lastly we put on 8 buttons. We covered the buttons with the same fabric that we used to for the headboard. We had to buy a button cover kit. Your thumbs start hurting after awhile. All that is left we have to cover the back with some lining fabric to make the back look nice. I am very pleased how everything turned out. I am hoping that my mom would want to make a headboard out of plywood. Overall the process wasn’t too hard. The new headboard looks great when it’s attached to the bed. The project didn’t require a lot of tools just a staple gun and a pair of scissors. If you were making the headboard out of plywood you would need a jigsaw.

A place where we can come together to relax and unwind

Every year we go to Galena, IL with my husband’s parents. We all really enjoy going. It’s little over 2 hour drive there and back. Galena is a small town with a lot of history. On Main Street there are tons of unique stores. About 90% are owned by the locals. Todd and I bought some Hickory Apple BBQ and hot sauce that says “The Hottest Fxxxing Hot Sauce” from the Canning Company. I bought the sauce for my father because he likes hot and spicy foods. He already tried it and BOY WAS IT HOTT. For dinner we ate at the Irish Cottage. We all order there Shepherd’s Pie and enjoyed watching three Irish dancers. We didn’t get back home until ten at night. Galena is a place you’ll always want to return to and a place where you never want to leave.
