My Mother-in-law came over yesterday and we upholstered an old headboard she gave us. I met her at Joann's fabrics and from there we came to my house and got started. It took us about 3.5 hours to complete the project. First we had to lay down the batting and stapled it to the head board. Then I threw the fabric into the dryer to try to get rid of some of the wrinkles, and then we stapled the fabric to the head board making sure it’s a tight fight. You don’t want any wrinkles. Lastly we put on 8 buttons. We covered the buttons with the same fabric that we used to for the headboard. We had to buy a button cover kit. Your thumbs start hurting after awhile. All that is left we have to cover the back with some lining fabric to make the back look nice. I am very pleased how everything turned out. I am hoping that my mom would want to make a headboard out of plywood. Overall the process wasn’t too hard. The new headboard looks great when it’s attached to the bed. The project didn’t require a lot of tools just a staple gun and a pair of scissors. If you were making the headboard out of plywood you would need a jigsaw.
